International relations specialist Öznur Küçüker Sirene assessed the results of the elections in Türkiye on the French public broadcaster France 24.
Sharing the programme on her social media account, Sirene used the following words:
Here is what I said on France 24, the French public broadcaster, where I was invited to assess the election results in Türkiye (I am sharing the broadcast with Turkish subtitles below). Under such extraordinary circumstances and after 21 years in power, perhaps no other leader in the world could have been re-elected. In 21 years, President Erdoğan has transformed the country; he is a strong leader who has kept all the promises made to his people and served them. The people once again chose to place their trust in him. Throughout the election and afterwards, President Erdoğan’s priority has been and will be to resolve economic problems and rebuild the earthquake-hit regions. The disheartened opposition voters did not lose either. All of Türkiye won. I see no future for an opposition made up of parties diametrically opposed to one another, united solely by the aim of ending Erdoğan’s rule.
