WHO IS ÖZNUR KÜÇÜKER SİRENE, WHERE IS SHE FROM?
Öznur Küçüker Sirene was born in Istanbul in 1985. Having lost her father when she was only 5, she was raised by an idealistic and patriotic mother. Noted from an early age for her disciplined work, Sirene achieved great success throughout her education.
She graduated top of her class from the Saint Benoît French High School. At 19, she moved to France to continue her education in Europe. Her first stop was Panthéon-Sorbonne University. She then became the first Turkish student to study at the Dijon campus of the Paris Institute of Political Studies (Sciences Po), one of France’s most prestigious institutions, where she specialised in Eastern and Central Europe.
A MASTER’S DEGREE IN INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS
After completing her master’s degree in international relations at Sciences Po, Sirene consolidated her diplomatic experience with an internship at the Turkish Embassy in Rabat, Morocco. She later worked for a time as an expert at the Trade Office of the Turkish Embassy in Paris.
WORKING TO REPRESENT TÜRKİYE IN FRANCE
As prejudice against Türkiye grew during her years in France, Sirene founded the French-language news site Red’Action to present her country accurately. On this platform she conveyed Türkiye’s political, cultural, economic and artistic dimensions to the French public. She also wrote weekly analyses for TRT’s French-language news site.
MEDIA AND ACADEMIC WORK
Öznur Küçüker Sirene frequently appears as a guest on Turkish and French television programmes to share her views. In her appearances she voices in particular Türkiye’s rightful stance in its fight against terrorism.
